We love a good story

As an important part of the merger between First Union and Wachovia, First Union shed its name and assumed the Wachovia identity and stock ticker. Todd, who designed the new logo and brand identity system, remembers this name change as a “trading places” moment for First Union, which was seen as the larger and more powerful brand than the regionally-recognized Wachovia.

One of the first sites where the new identity was implemented was in the bank in Philadelphia where Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd filmed ‘Trading Places.’ Coincidence? Who cares! That’s a great story.
